The Ductless Revolution
Having been in the heating and air conditioning trade for several decades, we have seen many systems of all different types and brands. Over the years, we’ve seen a great increase in both the efficiency and technology level of air conditioning equipment. For the most part, however, today’s systems are still using the same old methods of heating and cooling that were in use years ago. Most systems still rely on a single, centrally located system with ducting to distribute the heated or cooled air throughout our buildings. Some of the more common complaints about these “traditional” systems are:
• Hot and cold spots
• Uneven air-flow
• Excessive noise
• Unhealthy, dirty ducts
• High energy cost
• No individual control of temperature
There is a system available today that will eliminate all of these complaints and more. If we are ever to beat our energy addiction in this country we have to start thinking differently about how we do things. In our opinion, multi-zone “ductless split” systems are the future of heating and air conditioning. They are simply a much more intelligent way to heat and cool our homes and offices. Each room can have its own air supply and control. You can decide what temperature you prefer. If a room is not occupied, you no longer need to waste energy to condition that space. A single, ultra-quiet outside unit can control multiple, ultra-quiet indoor units each with its own temperature control. The outside unit runs only as hard as necessary to provide just the right amount of heating or cooling required. This is incredibly efficient when compared to “traditional” single and even two-speed systems. Additionally, there is no dirty ducting involved, so no energy is wasted moving the air from one place to another.
